Channel 2's Linda Stouffer visited Shepherd Center to learn more about the SHARE Initiative, which provides cost-free treatment to military personnel injured in Iraq and Afganistan. The initiative, funded through private donations, is often the only way these individuals can receive the care they need.
Shepherd Center has partnered with Atlanta Checker Cab to unveil the first-of-its-kind wheelchair accessible cab in the Atlanta metropolitan area, which features the ability to transport multiple wheelchairs and passengers at the same time. Only three cities across the US currently have the vehicle, Atlanta will be the fourth.
SHARE Military Initiative at Shepherd Center is a comprehensive rehabilitation program that focuses on assessment and treatment for service men and women who have sustained a mild to moderate traumatic brain injury and PTSD from the Afghanistan and Iraqi conflicts.
